✓ Some People claim that the more guns are in circulation the safer people will be. And yet, all statistics seem to prove the contrary. I’m all for public safety when it comes to gun violence but when the object that is supposed to procure that safety constantly misfires one has to question that reasoning. There are and always will be acts of violence involving guns in all parts of the world but as a general rule there are far less deaths and attempts in countries where gun control is applied. If the acronym NRA stood for NEVER REALLY ARMED, I would be its first member.
◦ « Let’s make America Great Again ». I’m all for it as long as that greatness is not exclusively a financial thing. We love our police and yet no real efforts have been deployed to protect them. We love our children and yet they are regularly being killed in the schools where they should feel safe. We need women in the workplace and yet they are not paid equivalent salaries for the same work as men. We want our people to live healthy lives regardless of their income and yet we cut their health care benefits. We foster that we live in the land of opportunity which is only true if you are of the right color, religion or sex. We claim to seek worldwide peace by bullying weaker nations and taking their natural resources. If this is our only way to « Make America Great Again » then I don’t want any part of it.
✓ Some people say that « Guns don’t kill people, people kill people »; others say « the best way to protect people from guns is to allow more and more people to carry guns ». All this under the protection of the second amendment. But in reality the second amendment is not the solution, it is the problem. People look, see and admit what’s happening around you…gun permissiveness has not solved any problems. Gun violence increases day by day and you are only praying for the victims and their families and you are hoping some miracle will bring solutions to this growing problem. When I was a kid in my native US home I remember saying and constantly hearing « WE THE PEOPLE ». If we like life and our safety, if we really like our children and want them to be safe, now is the time for « WE THE PEOPLE » to : say what needs to be said; do what needs to be done; change what needs to be changed. It is time to say NO TO GUNS. Yes « WE THE PEOPLE » must join together and say NO TO GUNS.
◦ The problem in the USA is that the Second Amendment is part of the US Constitution which was made “For the People by the People” and its initial goal was to protect the people from the English invaders. Times have past but the Second Amendment, although it has somewhat been modified has somehow altered its course and is now protecting individuals from individuals. But, if the goal of the Second Amendment is to allow people to protect themselves from others how does the Second Amendment protect the hundreds of armless victims from the handful of perpetrators? Some would say don’t wait until they are victims, give them guns ; more guns more
◦ Now is not the time to talk about it… Your children are being killed in their schools by vicious gun bearers and your lawmakers about gun control say…Now is not the time to talk about it. Dreamers are threatened to be deported from the only country they know because your lawmakers on so-called illegal immigration of Dreamers say…Now is not the time to talk about it. Midterm elections are at your doorstep and both the Republican Party and the POTUS would like to increase their majority in both houses. WE THE PEOPLE on giving the Republican Party and the POTUS that majority say…Now is not the time.
✓ It’s true that gun control is not a perfect solution to firearms violence but when people refuse to be and act rationally when in the possession of firearms, it could and would be a good first step in the infancy of a rational and reasonable use of firearms.
✓ Brilliantly said! They talk a lot; they pray to simulate sympathy while they are filling their pockets with NRA money.
◦ Many Americans will definitely say that tougher guns laws do not decrease gun violence. Well I guess that must be because of the acquired Wild-West Syndrome largely supported by the antiquated Second Amendment. Well other countries think otherwise. Check out this article (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/las-vegas-shooting-australia-gun-laws-control-stephen-paddock-2nd-amendment-nevada-firearm-a7980671.html) that shows “How murder and suicide figures plummeted in Australia after gun control laws were introduced”.
◦ Many Americans will definitely say that tougher guns laws do not decrease gun violence. Well I guess that must be because of the acquired Wild-West Syndrome largely supported by the antiquated Second Amendment. According to the Congressional Research Service, as of 2009 there were roughly twice as many guns per capita in the United States as there were in 1968: more than 300 million guns in all. This surpasses by far the numbers per capita in any other country. Why are there so many guns in the USA? Who do the Americans fear so much? Or, is it simply mass paranoia? With a population of 325 million people and about 300 million privately owned guns circulating, good luck out there!
◦ I have thought about it and prayed so much, so very much that now I would like to introduce a new version of the Second Amendment. In the spirit of our forefathers I propose this Amendment to the Second Amendment : “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, including lawn darts, shall not be infringed.”
